Stress and Anxiety.

Hello everyone, Sorry for my absence. It has been a pretty rough past semester and now this new one will be difficult as well...
The reason for this topic today: 1) I have been incredibly stressed this week & so wondered what I could do about it 2) Thought it would be interesting to really look into it and figure out ways that would help me, and also help you!

How Much Stress and Anxiety is Too Much?
The point at which worry and anxiety become unhealthy is when they stop pushing us to act. This can either be because we are worried about things that are not under our control or that have not happened yet, or because we are immobilized by the stress and anxiety we feel, rather than being inspired to act. Whatever the reason, this worry and anxiety can cause a lot of stress on our minds and bodies, and affect our health. Excessive or unmanaged anxiety can become unhealthy if it takes the form of an anxiety disorder, for example.
Dealing With Anxiety
So now that you understand the nature of stress and anxiety a little better, we can focus on eliminating them. The best remedy for anxiety is self-examination and action. Here are some easy steps to follow:
  1. First, look inside. What is causing you to worry? Be specific. (For some situations, this may be readily apparent; other times, you may really have to think about it.) Writing in a journal or talking to a friend about it can help you sort out your feelings.
  2. Then, decide what action, if any, should be taken. Try to figure out what part of the situation is under your control. Assess the problem to see whether the threat is real, or if you are blowing it out of proportion. If the problem is just a hypothetical situation or a worst-case scenario, decide if it is really likely that your fears will actually come to fruition.
  3. Next, come up with a plan that tackles the part of the problem that is under your control. Taking action to protect yourself is a good way to channel nervous energy and provides reassurance against your fears. It is, in most cases, the healthiest response to realistic fears and worries.
  4. Once you have done all you can, just let it go. Like everything in life, this is easier said than done, but with practice, you can get pretty adept at letting go of excessive levels of stress and anxiety. You can do this by focusing on something else, reminding yourself of the solutions you have worked on, or trying some stress management strategies that can help you feel more centered and at peace, such as prayer ormeditationjournaling about your feelings, or listening to music. Getting regular exercise has been found to be especially helpful in combating the physical effects of anxiety and stress.

So I know it is easier said than done to get rid of anxiety... and honestly... no one can really avoid it... we are human, but the one thing we can do is rely on God. Again that is easier said than done, but every time I do go through something like today I'm always reminded... at least by the end of it... that God has been there with me all day and that He has me. That relieves all anxiety that I've had all day.

This week has been so trying. And one thing I remember when I've been like this all day, is how EASY I have it. It may not seem easy as I'm going through it, but I'm reminded that other people around me and throughout the world are definitely going through something so much worse and even more trying then this small little week I've had.

BUT because we are human. I know we all will have stress and anxiety at some point... So there are verses below that I feel like would help you through those times. And remind you to rely on God and trust in Him.

He will comfort you when you need Him the most and when you feel like there is no one else around to help you through it.

A FEW VERSES TO LEAN ON:

“An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up” (Proverbs 12:25, NIV).
“I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears” (Psalm 34:4).
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:6-7) (Also seePsalm 55:22-23)
“Then Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?’” (Luke 12:22-26, NIV). (Also see Matthew 6:25-34)“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones” (Proverbs 3:5-8).
“…the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:26-28).
“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

I hope you all have had a wonderful day. And I hope you all have a great weekend. FINALLY Friday tomorrow!

Rest In It.

 Newlyweds Levi and Caitlin!

Hey everyone! My blogging abilities have not been very good lately and for that I apologize. I've been overly busy, which is annoying because I always pack things on myself, but today FINALLY... I got the chance to sit down and read and just relax. (I didn't really get the chance... I'm kinda just forcing myself hahaha). Anyways...

The reason why my blog is called "REST IN IT" is because lately I haven't been resting in the facts that are right in front of me... which is the Bible.

Something I've known my whole life is that the Bible holds so much truth, but I never really REST IN IT.

When I finally opened my Bible today... I turned and started out in EPHESIANS 1... As I began reading I just asked God that He would enlighten me and allow me to understand what He is showing me.

This is what He told me...
Ephesians 1: 4-8
"For HE CHOSE us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will- to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He loves. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that HE LAVISHED on us with all wisdom and understanding."

The main thing that God really spoke to me through was the fact that he CHOSE me... way before this earth was even created... He knew me... He ALREADY loved me and cared so much for me. This made me think, why am I always searching for acceptance from things of this world... especially people, when the creator of ALL things loved me even though he knew I would fall and make millions upon millions of mistakes that not even those around me know I've made.

The next thing was, that "HE LAVISHED on us"... that word is romantic to me... that He Lavished His love on us..
In the dictionary it says that lavished means: using or giving in great amounts
God has ENDLESS upon ENDLESS amounts of love that He has already shown and given us FREELY, but is still giving it out. We just don't notice it.

This made me realize... How incredibly special I am to the Almighty God of everything... which is CRAZY...
He is SOOO powerful and rules all things, yet He has endless amounts of time and love to give to me... Why in the world do I not do the same to Him. He is just waiting there with open arms to give us the desires of our hearts, but we are too busy being selfish.

I just thought this message was amazing and thrilling... and it did make me want to cry... Yet it's something were told as Christians, is that He loves us... but when you finally realize it for yourself... you have the biggest "AH-HA" moment... He is so wonderful the way He works.

We are so incredibly blessed to be loved by such an amazing SAVIOR. Thank you Lord for your love every single day.

Hope you all are having a wonderful Tuesday! Remember how SPECIAL YOU ARE!!!!

So sorry blogging world... my life lately has been so hectic that I haven't had a chance to sit down and write about what's been going on... but here we go.

You may be obsessed with coffee if you want this as a poster hanging in your room. Haha. Love!
HAVE A GREAT TUESDAY!!!!!

School Again.

Well it's almost time to head back for school, but before school begins it's time for RECRUITMENT again. I am so pumped about recruitment. I can't wait to see all the new girls coming to State. And I especially can't wait till Bid Day when they are finally welcomed into their new houses! It was so fun for me when I went through and I can't wait to make it as fun for them!

For those of you that don't know what I am talking about... Recruitment is just when girls coming into a college want to be apart of a Sorority (basically a social group- but so much more than that) they go through a week of going to each sorority that the campus your attending offers (for Mississippi State there are 7 sororities) and narrow it down finally to your favorite sorority. Then on bid day, you'll go to the house that you've been invited back to and eventually you'll be a brand new member in that sorority, which is a huge accomplishment.
It doesn't sound like a lot of fun haha, but these past two years at State, my sorority has offered me several chances to become more involved not only in the sorority, but on campus. You also have many functions you can attend (dances and such). It has really changed me into the person I am today, especially with the friends I've met and have grown up with these past two years. I definitely can say I am glad that I went through recruitment and I'm excited for what this next semester (my junior year) holds in store for me in God's plans.

So all of you who are debating on doing a sorority at your college, I think it would be a great thing for you to do, and a great way to get involved and become more social and outgoing!

Sorry for the dramatic blog hahaha. I promise the next one won't be as "emotional" haha.

I hope you all are having a wonderful TUESDAY!!!!

Warmed My Heart.

Such an encouraging video of giving of the love we have from Christ to others who have done so much for us.

Just watched this and I thought I would share. Former President Bush is such a kind warm hearted man and I am so proud to say that he was my President. This just shows the love that Christ has for him, he in return spills out to those around him. We should all be encouraged to do the same.

Love Like Their's.

There is something I've learned as I've grown up these past 21 years. One of them I would have never believed would have been true probably 3-4 years ago... and that is... my parents are actually really cool and are actually really incredibly smart.

Not knowing myself, they have taught me so much. And recently or more in the past year I've really loved hanging out and spending time with them. This makes me happy, but in some ways makes me sad that it took me 21 years to actually come to this realization.

I find myself at this age, calling them, asking them for advice, laughing at their jokes, doing fun things with them, and just wanting to learn from them.

They are some of the coolest inspirational people I know. I do look at them as my elders and those whom I look up to and obey as it says in the Bible, but I also look at them as my dearest and truest of friends that I know will always love me for me.

These past few days I've been quoting them which sounds weird... but some of what I'm about to show you is very enlightening.

I know we all know this, but it is good to be reaffirmed by it:

"Relationships aren't just a give give give relationship or a take take take relationship, it has both giving and taking involved, and it is so important."

"What you don't like in someone else is something you don't like in yourself"

and my absolute favorite... it's actually a quote from Winnie the Pooh, but my dad loves to say it to my mom... and I think it's the cutest thing ever...

"My favorite time of the day is when you and me become we."

LOVE IT.
  Love them so so much.

Something I hope for one day is to have a love like my parents. They love each other through Christ and that is the only way a healthy marriage will ever live. Love Christ. Love others just like He absolutely loved us.

I hope you all are having the best Thursday!!!!
